English: Insignia of the U.S. Navy amphibious transport dock ship USS Dubuque (LPD-8), 1967-2011.
Official description:"This emblem, received in 1970, symbolizes Dubuque's mission and heritage. The dominant figure eight, backed by a drawn sword, represents her capability to stand steadfast in defense of the nation. The two stars symbolize the two ships of the Navy to be named Dubuque. The tower in the lower part of the figure eight depicts the marker over the gravesite of Julien Dubuque, founder of the city that bears his name."
