English: U.S. Marines unload their gear from ships in the harbor of Pavuvu, Russell Islands, in May 1944. LCMs and LCVPs are beached and standing offshore, including some from the attack transport USS President Hayes (APA-20). LCT-351 is at right. Note trucks being loaded from the landing craft. USS Elmore (APA-42) is visible in the background. She is painted in Camouflage Measure 32, Design 16D.
