Summary
[edit]DescriptionUSS Forrestal - F-4 Landing (Just the Right Moment).jpg |
English: A U.S. Navy McDonnell F-4B-24-MC Phantom II (BuNo 152307) of Fighter Squadron 11 (VF-11) "Red Rippers" is landing on the flight deck of the USS Forrestal (CVA-59), 25 June 1968. The F-4's tailhook has just caught one of the cables across the deck. You can see it just behind the word "Navy." The beginning of sudden deceleration has lifted the front landing wheel off the deck. A fortunate shot at just the right moment. The Forrestal was in the Atlantic Ocean, near Jacksonville, Florida. |
