Summary[edit]

Description
English: A U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Leyte (CV-32) passes through Miraflores Locks of the Panama Canal, in early September 1946. Leyte, with assigned Carrier Air Group 18 (CVG-18), made a goodwill tour to South America from 31 August to 12 December 1946. Note the tight fit of the Essex-class carriers in the locks. The class was constructed to be able to pass through the Canal.
