Description U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (Oct. 11, 2014) Marines assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), prepare the gun mount on a Humvee after an amphibious landing exercise in U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) maintains its readiness to promote long-term regional security by conducting regularly scheduled, recurring exercises.
