Description
English: The U.S. Navy heavy cruiser USS Pensacola (CA-24) at anchor in Nouméa, New Caledonia, on 28 September 1942. A fleet oiler is visible in the left distance. Pensacola arrived at Nouméa on 26 September, and departed with the aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV-8) on 2 October.
