Description

U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

(Oct. 20, 2014) U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Joseph C. Martin, a CH-53E Super Stallion crew chief with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and native of Hiddenite, North Carolina, crouches next to a CH-53E Super Stallion with a fire extinguisher as part of an aircraft start-up procedure aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22), Oct. 20. Marines from the 11th MEU are deployed with the San Diego as a part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group as a flexible, adaptable and persistent force in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
