Summary[edit]

Description Tugs push the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CVS-10) towards her mooring at Ford Island in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (USA). Yorktown had been converted to an ASW-carrier until February 1958 and was at the beginning of her Western Pacific deployment from 1 November 1958 to 21 May 1959. She had not yet a regular Carrier Anti-Submarine Air Group assigned (CVSGs were established in 1960), but individual squadrons (visible on deck, l-r): Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron HS-2 Golden Falcons with Sikorsky HSS-1 Seabat, Fighter Squadron VF-92 Det.N Silver Kings with McDonnell F2H-3 Banshee, Anti-Submarine Squadron VS-37 Sawbucks with Grumman S2F-1/-2 Tracker.
