English: Onslow Bay, N.C. (Jun. 28, 2003) -- Seaman James Todd, from Fresno, Calif., paints the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) starboard anchor while anchored in Onslow Bay. Kearsarge and 2nd MEB are on their way home from a successful deployment. The multi-purpose amphibious assault ship participated in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and provided support to the President of the United States during his summits with the Arab leaders in Egypt and Jordan. Kearsarge was also extended on deployment when directed to prepare for possible support to Operation Shinning Express in Western Africa. Kearsarge is scheduled to arrive at their homeport of Naval Station Norfolk on June 30. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 3rd Class Angel Roman-Otero. (RELEASED) |
