English: Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella, Sicily (Sept. 19, 2003) -- Cmdr. Daizo Kobayashi, assigned to Navy Evironmental and Preventive Medicine Unit Seven (NEPMU 7), uses a microscope to identify an insect in the entomology department. Certain species of insects carry different diseases, which NEPMU 7 works to assess and prevent. The mission of NEPMU7 is to protect and preserve force health readiness through provision of theater-wide preventive medicine support to Navy and Marine Corps forces, joint military operations and allied governments when directed. Sigonella provides logistical support for Sixth Fleet and NATO forces in the Mediterranean area. U.S. Navy photo by Journalist Seaman Stephen P. Weaver. (RELEASED)
