Description
Nederlands: “Nu kan ik het hoofdstuk voor mezelf afsluiten”, zegt kapitein Jakob Feenstra. Hij kreeg woensdag 18 februari op de Kromhoutkazerne samen met 8 anderen de Sculptuur Operationeel Optreden met het Zilveren Erekoord, de hoogste individuele waardering van de Commandant Landstrijdkrachten voor operationeel optreden.


Over de gebeurtenissen in Syrië in 2013 waarbij Feenstra was betrokken, was nog weinig naar buiten gekomen. “Mensen vroegen zich af of het wel echt had plaatsgevonden. Nu kan ik het bewijzen”, vertelt hij lachend.

De Sculptuur Operationeel Optreden is een bronzen borstbeeld van een militair in gevechtsuitrusting, met daaronder een inscriptie van de betreffende missie en actie. De 9 kregen het beeld van C-LAS luitenant-generaal Mart de Kruif voor ‘buitengewone toewijding en loffelijk optreden’. Het bronzen borstbeeld werd in 2011 voor het eerst uitgereikt aan een groep UNIFIL-veteranen voor hun inzet in 1979 in Libanon.
