Description
Français : Une noce juive à Tanger, ou Fête juive à Tanger - La Fête juive, très remarquée au Salon de 1870, peut être considérée comme l’un des chefs-d’œuvre du peintre. Réalisée à partir de croquis pris sur le motif lors des fréquents séjours marocains de l’artiste, la toile souffre des nombreuses comparaisons avec l’œuvre de Delacroix exposée au Louvre. Pourtant si ce dernier s’est surtout attaché, de son propre aveu, aux effets de lumières, Dehodencq travaille en témoin et cherche à se rapprocher d’une certaine vérité sociale et culturelle, évitant les écueils d’un orientalisme plus fantasmé, déjà très en vogue à l’époque.
