This graph is an expanded version of a graph that ordinally charts, in terms of percentages, the various United States of America national parties' various presidential runs since 1972 in relation to one another as opposed to charting their various presidential runs in relation to the other United States of America national parties' various presidential runs.  For example, using this graph, one can see that the Libertarian Party had its highest percentage of the popular vote in 1980 and its third-highest percentage of the popular vote in 1996, or that the Democratic Party had its third-highest percentage of the popular vote since 1972 in 1976, or that the Republican Party had its seventh-highest percentage of the popular vote since 1972 in 2000.

Bars for the Constitution Party (formerly known as the U. S. Taxpayer Party) and the Green Party of the United States fade as they have only been around in presidential races since 1992 and 1996 respectively.

The Green Party that nominated candidates for the presidency in 1996 and 2000 was the Greens/Green Party USA.  The Green Party that nominated candidates for the presidency ever since has been the Green Party of the United States.
