Description
Català: Urna de pedra, cueva Hun Nal Ye (Guatemala). Basalt, període Clàssic Primerenc (250-600). Museu Nacional d'Arqueologia i Etnologia de Guatemala. Exposició Maies. L'enigma de les Ciutats Perdudes del museu arqueològic d'Alacant.

Aquesta urna de basalt prové de la cova Hun Nal Ye, a la regió d'Alta Verapaz de Guatemala. Va aparèicer amb altres recipients de ceràmica provinents de les Tierras Bajas del Norte, de la Vall de Motagua (El Salvador), així com acompanyada de productes locals, tot indicant que aquesta cova va ser utilitzada habitualment com un lloc important de pelegrinatge.

A l'interior de l'urna es va trobar el fèmur d'un tapir, que va poder ser dipositat en un moment posterior (després de l'any 600). La funció d'ambdós encara no ha estat aclarida, encara que és possible que en algun moment l'urna guardara un còdex de paper amate.

Aquest recipient d'ofrena va ser dedicat a la jove deessa de la Lluna, que apareix representada sobre la tapa amb un conill entre les mans. El text dedicatori la denomina com ix Uh Lajuun Winak. A més, el text fa referència a l'urna com a contenidor de pedra u tuun ta...? otoch? naah, que ha estat traduït com la casa/contenidor de pedra. La peça apereix signada per l'autor amb el nom de Yuk(laj) Chan Muwaan An K'uuch.
