Summary
[edit]DescriptionUse of Aloe dawei by Berta Nkura (4624207988).jpg | Berta Nkura, a widow of a traditional healer, posing inbetween her cultivated plants of Aloe dawei. She used the leaves of these plants to prevent and treat chicken diseases. Aloe dawei is not indigenous in Mozambique but in Uganda and neighboring countries. The leaves are intensely bitter and she used to mix the pounded leaves in the drinking water. Some maize bran was added in order to stimulate drinking, because the leaves are intensely bitter. She used 3 different doseages, the least potent for preventing diseases, the most potent to treat the most extremely diseased chickens, in such way that they are not able to drink. She used to live in Chimoio and died in 2009, 78 years old. |
