Cultural Linkage of Taxus species in worshiping Bajrabarahi Temple in Nepal

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Newars, an ethnic group of Nepal at Thaha Municipality necessarily use Taxus species in their each and every cultural occasions. The image shows the twigs of Taxus species used in the periodic festival of Bajrabarahi Temple in Bajrabarahi of Thaha Municipality. Newar people have the belief that without using the Taxus plant the festival will be incomplete. They take Taxus Species as sacred plant in their all rituals. The plant is locally named as Loth salla, which is CITES listed plant in Nepal.
