Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This was vault number five out of five that was used to store materials pertaining to the first atomic bombs dropped on Japan. This vault was located in a building with four other vaults not shown in the image. Our tour guide explained that by using five vaults and only keeping the secret materials in two of the vaults that it would have increased the security and time taken to gain access to the vaults and the materials inside them. Anyone attempting to gain unauthorized access to the vaults contents would not only have to break into a very heavy vault but they would have to know which one of the five if any contained the materials. If I remember correctly the materials stored in the vaults were detonators for the first atomic weapons being developed. We were told this information by a tour guide while taking a private tour on August 23, 2013 I believe. It was a tour given to only a small number of people.

This is an image of a place or building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the United States of America. Its reference number is 75001827.
