| Description |
English: This is a memorial in a village named Pazhaiyanoor near Thiruvalangadu in Tamil Nadu. According to a folk story named Pazhaiyanoor Neeli Kathai, 70 Velalars of the village jumped into fire immediately upon them failing to keep up the promise given to Neeli's husband that they would not allow her to cause any harm to him (without realizing that she was actually a ghost on a revenging spree). In the recently built compound wall of this mandapam, it is written that "in this place, 70 velalars jumped into fire 2500 years back".
தமிழ்: திருவாலங்காடு அருகே உள்ள பழையனூரில் இம்மண்டபம் உள்ளது. பழையனூர் நீலி கதையில் வரும் 'கொடுத்த வாக்கைக் காக்க 70 வேளாளர் தீப்பாய்ந்த' நிகழ்வுடன் தொடர்புடையது. அண்மைக் காலத்தில் எழுப்பப்பட்டுள்ள இம்மண்டபத்தின் சுற்றுச்சுவரில் "2500 ஆண்டுகளுக்குமுன் எழுபது வேளாளர் தீப்பாய்ந்த மண்டபம்" என்று எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது. |
