Summary[edit]

Description
English: Vidkun Quisling (1887–1945), leader of the Norwegian fascist/nazi party Nasjonal Samling ("National Unity" or "National Gathering", abbreviated NS), speaking into a microphone from the roof of the party's "propaganda vehicle" purchased in 1935, during an open square meeting/public assembly.

The car is adorned with the Norwegian national flag and the party's own red and yellow cross flag. In front, members of the "Hirden," the party's order guards (later referred to as "political soldiers"), are lined up, clearly inspired by the "brownshirts" in Nazi Germany. Political uniforms were prohibited, but several are wearing peaked "ski caps".

The photo was taken by amateur photographer Mikkel Sveinhaug from Ringsaker, Norway between 1935 and 1939. The image is copied from Anno Domkirkeodden's photo published in Digitalt Museum's web archive. The copy here is lightly retouched (stripes and scratches are removed).
