Summary

[edit]
Description Homes and whole villages on the Mekong river at built on stills. The water floods up to at least the second storey for 3-4 months of the year, so the stilts are fully necessary. Some years it floods even higher and the whole villages need to live on their cramped boats until it recedes. Such is the cyclic life on the Mekong.
