English: Photograph of the exterior of Rosewell Plantation, Carter's Creek, Gloucester County, Virginia, circa 1880-1900. Built by the Page family, the house was later sold and stripped of many of its architectural elements, including much of its mahogany wainscoting. This photograph shows the decrepitude of the house in its later years after a period of neglect. The house burned in 1916. Photograph is from "Colonial Mansions and Those Who Lived in Them, with Genealogies of the Various Families Mentioned," by Thomas Allen Glenn, published by Henry T. Coates & Company, Philadelphia, Penn., 1899. |
