The Nordlyset was built in Helsingør in 1852 for Den Kongelige Grønlandske Handel (Royal Greenland Trading Department). Between 1853 and 1926 she made 111 round trips between Denmark and Greenland. Source: http://www.jmarcussen.dk/maritim/skibsliste/side.php?id=6381 (in Danish). The Hans Egede was built by Burmeister & Wain in Copenhagen (Yard no. 240) and delivered in 1905 to Den Kongelige Grønlandske Handel. Torpedoed and sunk by U-587 off Canada in March 1942.
