  • Dansk: I 1909 flyttede Hammershøi fra Strandgade 30 på Christianshavn i København til Kvæsthusgade 6, ligeledes i København. Det kan ikke afgøres med sikkerhed, hvor han fandt motivet til maleriet, men interiøret synes væsensforskelligt fra stuerne i Strandgade 30. Hammershøi gav selv sine interiørbilleder titlen 'Interiør' frem for benævnelsen 'Stue', som Bramsen anvendte i sin værkfortegnelse. Lærredet er for oven og for neden ombugget, således at der er ca. 5 cm overskydende bemalet lærred synligt foroven og forneden på bagsiden, formodentlig foretaget af kunstneren selv
