Français : Autres titres : Couvent des Soeurs missionnaires de Notre-Dame-d'Afrique. Description : Vue en direction sud montrant les jardins de la villa Benmore, située au 2071 chemin Saint-Louis, Québec. Cette villa d'esprit néoclassique et néogothique est construite en 1834-1835 selon les plans de l'architecte George Browne, pour l'irlandais Dominick Daly. À son départ de Québec en 1848, Daly vend son domaine au colonel William Rhodes qui agrandit considérablement la villa. Plusieurs descendants de William Rhodes occupent Benmore jusqu'à la fin de 1947, date à laquelle le domaine est vendu à la communauté des Soeurs missionnaires de Notre-Dame-d'Afrique. Elles vendent le domaine à la compagnie Domaine Benmore inc. en 2005, suite à la diminution des effectifs de la communauté. (Source : site Web du patrimoine urbain de la ville de Québec) |
