Description
Português: Forte de São Marcelo, um dos cartões postais de Salvador, na Baía de Todos os Santos. É um dos monumentos mais importantes do ponto de vista histórico, turístico e arquitetônico da Bahia. A justificativa da sua construção foi aumentar as defesas da cidade diante da ameaça de uma nova invasão holandesa, em 1650. Sua função era impedir a entrada no porto, cruzando fogo com os fortes de São Francisco, São Felipe e São Paulo da Gamboa.
