Transcripción de la ficha: _La proclamación pontificia del patronato de la Virgen de Guadalupe sobre el reino de Nueva España tuvo lugar en Roma en 1754. Luego de intensas diligencias y el empeño de la Compañia de Jesis, se solicitó a Antonio Vallejo la elaboración de esta lámina

Transición del Barroco al Neoclásico, el autor muestra la visión de un Juan Evangelista joven, en la Isla de Patmos, en una trasfiguración del patriotismo criolle. El águila-su simbolo del Tetramorfo-posa sobre un nopal de reminiscencia mexica Como un nuevo códice, la Virgen del Apocalipsis es Maria de Guadalupe, presidida por la Trinidad, San Miguel Arcángel, san Jos, patrono de Norva Españia, y san Juan Nepomucena Banquean a la Madre de Dios, quien se convertiría en Patrona de América."
