Transcripción de la ficha:

"Luis Berrueco, discípulo de Juan Correa, muestra a un muy joven Giovanni di Bernardone, después conocido como Francisco de Asís, luego de sa encarcelamiento tras la batalla en Perugia, Italia. La composición, estructurada en dos planos, destaca el camino de la vida civil, pletórica en detalles propios de la Escuela poblans, a la religiosa. Reza la hagiografia que el futuro santo escuchó la voz de Cristo -referida en la filacteria que proviene directamente del crucifijo- que le decía: ¿A quién es mejor servir, al Señor al sirviente? Este hecho se pondera con la espada que queda en la empuñadura de su traje, simbole de la vida El lica dialoga con un episodio similar de Ignacio de Loyola, que pintara Cristobal de Villalpanda para referit el tránsito del ámbito militar al religioso, con la presentación de su espadin ante la Virgen de Montserrat."
