Description
Simple English: Visoki Decani Monastery was constructed in 14 century by the Serbian king Stefan Decanski. Name Visoki means high, tall and it has one of the highest dome in Balkans. The highest point of the dome is 28 m. Another peculiarity of the Monastery is its icon of Jesus Christ with the sword. According to the monks of the Monastery, it is the only fresco in the world of Jesus holding the sword. Dominant color on the fresco is blue, also known as Byzantium blue, which was more expensive than gold.
