|||
Description |
National Flower Day was held in Adelaide between 1938 and 1975. Displays were arranged around the city and Victoria Square, the War Memorial, North Terrace and King William Road were all used to good effect. Flower Day was a joint venture between the Adelaide City Council and the many volunteers who gave their time and were supervised by a National Flower Day Committee. The original aims of Flower Day were to promote Adelaide throughout Australia and the British Empire, and to encourage residents to beautify their own suburbs.
