| Description |
Volvo first presented a driveable electric C30 prototype in September 2009. An updated prototype was shown at the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.[11] The concept car was exhibited in the 2010 Paris Motor Show and presented as the C30 DRIVe. Field testing will begin in 2011 in the U.S., Europe, and China.[12] Around 1000 test cars will be produced, with the first ten going to Göteborg Energi in Sweden in late 2010.[13] The electric C30 will have a lithium-ion battery, supplied by US manufacturer EnerDel,[14] and no gears. Top speed is estimated by Volvo at 130 km/h (81 mph), with acceleration from 0–60 mph in under 11 seconds. The all-electric range will be up to 150 kilometres (93 mi). |
