Description
English: Photo taken at the Lofoten War Memorial Museum (Norwegian: Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum) in Svolvær, Norway's largest exhibition of uniforms and smaller items related to the Second World War and the German occupation of Norway 1940 – 1945:
  • Service uniform of a Staff Surgeon (Stabsarzt) of the Luftwaffe, the aerial warfare branch of the combined German Wehrmacht military forces, used on the Nothern Front.
    • Luftwaffe visored service cap (Schirmmütze) with national eagle-and-swastika (the "flying" Luftwaffe version) emblem and tri-colour national cockade (Reichskokarde) with winged wreath
    • Luftwaffe blue-grey tunic (Waffenrock) with four pleated patch pocket, turn-up cuffs, etc.
      • Blue corps colour (Waffenfarbe) on backing of gorget patches (Kragenspiegel), and Rod of Asclepius on shoulder strap, indicating "air force medical corps" (Sanitätstruppe)
      • Rank insignia of a Hauptmann on shoulder boards (Shulterstücke) and collar patches (Kragenspiegel). Stabsarzt of the German Wehrmacht' was comparable to the Hauptmann / Kapitänleutnant, as well as to the Hauptsturmführer and Hauptmann of the Waffen-SS.
      • Luftwaffe style chest eagle uniform patch (Brustadler, "breast eagle") as eagle-and-swastika national emblem (Hoheitszeichen, Hoheitsadler, Reichsadler, Wehrmachtsadler, Luftwaffeadler)
