Summary[edit]

Description

This photo from early March 2016 shows the first time that the optically complete telescope (18 primary mirror segments, the secondary mirror, and the Aft Optics Subsystem which contains the tertiary mirror) was placed in a deployed configuration. A series of metrology test will be performed in this configuration, then the secondary mirror support structure will be stowed again.

(The primary mirror segments still have black protective covers on them, but you can see the gold-coating on the round secondary mirror.)
