- description: Eros, chained, is led away from or brought back to Aphrodite, sitting in a dramatic landscape, by a female servant (Peitho?); Eros´ weapons have been given to Anteros who hides behind Aphrodite´s shoulders; compare the tale of Amor and Psyche (Venus threatens to disarm Amor and to give them to a new, better son), but Eros is shown as a small boy, which does not fit into the story told by Apuleius; Eros in this scene is rather punished for one of his numerous other wrongdoings - period / date: third style of pompeian wall painting - height: 154 cm - width: 116 cm - findspot: Pompeii VII 2, 23, house of the punished Eros - museum / inventory number: Napoli, Museo Archeologico Nazionale 9257
