| Description |
English: Butter made of water buffalo milk at a food market in Ankara. The salesman told me they bring it from Samsun, one of the few remaining water buffalo husbandry provinces of Turkey. Until the 1970s, you could see water buffalos in Samsun a few kilometres out of the city, to both sides of the main road towards the east (Çarşamba - Terme). Today the district of Bafra is its main water buffalo farm. There are water buffalo heavens also in Afyonkarahisar and some parts of the Trakya (Thrace) region of Turkey. |
