Kommentar: Typisch für Westfalen im 11. und 12. Jh. ist die Nachahmung des ottonischen Kölner Münztyps mit der immobilisierten Legende +ODDO+IVIPING (aus ODDO IMP[erator]AVG[ustus]). Eine der Hauptmünzstätten dieser Nachahmungen war Soest. Die Soester Nachahmungen sind dann ihrerseits auch nachgeahmt worden. Auch in Hessen (Fritzlar, Marburg) ist der ottonische Kölner Münztyp nachgeahmt worden. Die hessischen Nachahmungen sind leichter als die westfälischen (Hessen meist unter, Westfalen meist über 1 g). Dieses Stück ist nach Fabrik und Gewicht eher hessisch als westfälisch, wofür auch das Vorkommen im Fund von Fulda spricht. Wegen einer anscheinend den Namen VVARINHERVS enthaltenen Variante (Objektnummer 18213258) wird Abt Warin von Corvey (1070-1079) als Münzherr der gesamten Gruppe in Erwägung gezogen [P. Ilisch, Die Fritzlarer Colonia des 11. Jahrhunderts (2004) 18-19].
