English: The white-throated fantail, a diminutive passerine bird, inhabits forests, scrublands, and cultivated areas throughout tropical southern Asia, spanning from the Himalayas and India to Bangladesh and Indonesia. Formerly regarded as a subspecies, the white-spotted fantail exhibits a distinct appearance characterized by its dark plumage contrasted with a white throat and short eyebrow. Its tail, often elegantly fanned, presents a darker shade with white-tipped feathers, except for the central pair. Juveniles resemble adults but with less prominent facial white and brownish edges on their dark body feathers. Emitting harsh contact calls, this avian species produces a melodious song comprising 6-7 ascending and descending notes. Found in a diverse array of wooded habitats, ranging from dense forests to forest edges and gardens, it thrives across various elevations, from lowlands to mountainous regions. Recently, a sighting of this bird was photographed at the Buxa Tiger Reserve & National Park in West Bengal, India.
