Cruising wird laut Wikipedia „im Kontext schwuler Sexualität die bewusste, aktive und gewöhnlich mobile Suche nach einem Sexualpartner genannt“. Die Beliebtheit des Cruisings schien in den letzten Jahrzehnten bis April 2020 manchenorts etwas nachzugelassen, möglicherweise unteranderem wegen der Verfügbarkeit und des Komforts der Sex-Apps, und der Verbürgerlichung (Stichwort: Homo-Normativität) mancher Teile der schwul-identen Bevölkerung. Als jedoch die Maßnahmen gegen ansteckende Krankheiten Monate lang, wegen der SARS-CoV-2 Pandemie, das Treffen in Kneipen, Clubs, und auf Partys größtenteils unratsam bis unmöglich machte, lebten manchen Orts, teils seit Jahrzehnten sich im Dornröschenschlaf befindende Cruisingorte wieder auf. Manchenorts, wie hier im Berliner Volkspark Hasenheide, wurde das in dieser Zeit von einem vielfältigen Angebot an ad hoc entstehende/organisierte Kulturevents, Musikveranstaltungen, und Proteste begleitet.

Cruising, according to Wikipedia, "is walking or driving about a locality, called a cruising ground, in search of a sex partner, usually of the anonymous, casual, one-time variety." The popularity of cruising seemed to have waned somewhat in some places in the last decades leading up to April 2020. This was perhaps due to the availability and convenience of sex apps, and the embourgeousement (keyword: homo-normativity) of some parts of the gay-ident population. However, when the measures to attempt to contain the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, made meeting in pubs, clubs and at parties largely inadvisable if not impossible for months at a time, cruising areas, some of which had been in a deep slumber for decades, came to life again. In some places, such as here in Berlin's Volkspark Hasenheide, this was accompanied by a wide range of ad hoc cultural, and music events as well as political protests.
