Description
Helene Roed (1843-1926) was the daughter of Marstrand's colleague Jørgen Roed. In 1866 she married the Swedish professor C. R. Nyblom, and moved to Sweden as Helene Nyblom. The portrait is a study for Marstrand's scene from Det lykkelige Skibbrud (The Happy Capsize) (1857-59). Helene Roed had her hair done to portray the young woman Leonora.
