Pencil, pen and ink and watercolour on paper depicting a temple at Soonum, Himalayas, from an album of sketches of India, Rajpootana, Himalayas and Tibet, including: Oodeypore; Chitore; Dabulla; Anah Sagur Lake at Ajmere; Kishanghur; Dewan-i-am, Ambair [sic]; Delhi; The Lickung, a tributory of the Ganges (illustrated); Gangootree; The Ganges near Ghala; Manji Kanta; The Temple of Pitwarree; Mussoorie; On the Roopin River; Buspa Valley; and Tchaipungmay figure beside the large praying cylinder at Soonum (illustrated), signed and dated 'Wm.Simpson/15th.Feb.1861' (on the inside cover of the album), inscribed 'India.Rajpootana.Himalayas/Thibet./1861.' (on the cover), each drawing inscribed with place names and dated between 19th February and 3rd July 1861 pencil and watercolour or wash (64), pencil (65), watermark 'J WHATMAN 1856' (15), 129 drawings on the 65 pages of the album
