Pencil, pen and ink and watercolour on paper depicting a temple at Soonum, Himalayas, from an album of sketches of India, Rajpootana, Himalayas and Tibet, including: Oodeypore; Chitore; Dabulla; Anah Sagur Lake at Ajmere; Kishanghur; Dewan-i-am, Ambair [sic]; Delhi; The Lickung, a tributory of the Ganges (illustrated); Gangootree; The Ganges near Ghala; Manji Kanta; The Temple of Pitwarree; Mussoorie; On the Roopin River; Buspa Valley; and Tchaipungmay figure beside the large praying cylinder at Soonum (illustrated), signed and dated 'Wm.Simpson/15th.Feb.1861' (on the inside cover of the album), inscribed 'India.Rajpootana.Himalayas/Thibet./1861.'
