Summary

[edit]
Description Wilson's Phalarope (Phalaropus tricolor). If you visit Yosemite you should take the time to drive over Tioga Pass to explore Mono Lake. From mid-July to September you'll see great numbers of Phalaropes, both Red-necked and Wilson's, stopping here to fatten up for trip south. Mono Lake is teeming with Brine Shrimp and Brine Flies. In September and October the phalaropes will be replaced by over 1,000,000 Eared Grebes. Wilson's Phalarope is larger, and sports a long thin bill and rather plain back in alternate plumage.
