| Description |
Built for the U.S.Navy as a TBM-1C, Bureau No 45862. Transferred to the Royal Navy as an Avenger II 'JZ569'. Crashed in the Wash near Sutton Bridge on 5th August 1944, while being operated by 787 Naval Air Fighting Development Unit (NAFDU) based at RAF Wittering. The pilot, 23yr old Lieutenant (A) Alan Dundas RNVR, was killed. Parts were recovered in 1976 and are on display at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. East Kirkby. 16-06-2014 |
