English: XNBL-1 Barling Bomber Designed by Walter H. Barling. Largest aircraft of its day. Had 3 wings, and was powered by six Liberrty 12-A engines of 420 hp each.
Max speed 96 mph at sea level, cruising speed 61 mph. Service ceiling 7725 feet, 170 miles range with full bomb load. Crew of 6. Armed with seven 0.30-in machine guns and could carry up to 5000 pounds of bombs. First flight Aug 22, 1923, dismantled in 1925 and parts stored in warehouse at Fairfield Depot. Parts ordered burned by Maj. Henry H. Arnold. USAF Museum has two wheels of the landing gear. |
