English: The right side of the entrance, and the entrance itself to the left. We see a scene with a tree between a lion and a leopard.
Some information can be found on the site of the TDV İslâm Ansiklopedisi. Google-translated a part says "According to the one-line Arabic inscription on the crown gate, the madrasa was built in 710 (1310-11) by Cemâleddin Hoca Yâkut Gāzânî, who was the emir of the provinces of Bayburt and Erzurum, with the money of Gāzân Han and Bolugan Hatun, during the Olcaytu Hudâbende period." There is a mausoleum at one side of the medrese. The main entrance has beautiful stonework, in the interior fine work can be found above some doorways. Some of the pictures in this series are from slides, taken in the 1998, later ones are digital. |
