Yedikule gate in front of Golden Gate

| Description |
English: This is a view from above the Golden Gate. It is between pylons, on top of which one can walk (entering a pylon on one side, leaving through the other). The small gate we see is a smaller entrance gate, ot some distance of the wall, of which Strolling through Istanbul (guidebook) says "When Theodosius II decided to extend the city […], it was presumably in connection with this new wall that he built the small marble gate outside the triumphal arch…”. This is that gate. |
