| Description |
English: One of pictures of this modern mosque, some from the outside of the complex, some from its courtyard and the mosque itself. I di not enter the mosque. A site with information about the city has, translated and edited: The construction of the Yeni Mevlidi Halil Mosque, located to the west of the cave where Abraham was born, began in 1980 and was opened for worship in 1988. This mosque, which bears the same name as the Mevlidi Halil mosque in the east (hence the “yeni” or “new” in the name of this mosque), and is the largest mosque in Şanlıurfa. Two minarets with two balconies made of cut stone were built on the northeast and northwest corners of the mosque. There are a prayer room for women, the Abraham’s cave, ablution rooms and fountains in the arched courtyards around the mosque. |
