Zarpe de la Primera Escuadra Nacional
Description
Español: Esta tela muestra a tres de los buques que componían dicha fuerza naval, realizando salvas de saludo el día del zarpe rumbo a su primera misión, 9 de octubre de 1818. Al centro se aprecia la fragata Lautaro; a babor de ésta, hacia la derecha de la imagen, el navío San Martín (insignia del comodoro Manuel Blanco Encalada), y en un segundo plano, hacia la izquierda de la obra, la corbeta Chacabuco. No aparece en la escena el bergantín Araucano, que completaba esta fuerza. La primera misión de la misma tuvo el exitoso resultado de la captura de la fragata española María Isabel en Talcahuano, el 28 de octubre, además de varios transportes, durante los días siguientes.
