Summary
[edit]DescriptionZekari Pass Samtskhe-Javakheti Imereti.jpg |
English: Zekari pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.174m (7,132ft) above the sea level, located on the border of Imereti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions, in Georgia.
The road to the summit, located in the Meskheti Range, is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. It’s called SH14. The road is usually impassable from October to June (weather permitting). This road was used from the times immemorial for caravan traffic. The road between Sairme and Abastumani (an ex-soviet mountain resort or rather sanatorium area in the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park) is winding through wonderful mountain areas. Off roaders will love this route and the terrain. The road links the towns of Sairme and Abastumani. Great trail for experienced wheelers. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. In the vicinity of the pass there is a large observatory of Georgian Academy of Sciences. |
