தமிழ்: அத்தி
அத்தி மரத்தின் பிறப்பிடம் மத்திய மற்றும் கிழக்கு ஆசிய நாடுகள் என்று வரலாற்றுப் பதிவுகள் கூறுகின்றன. வேத காலத்திலேயே அத்தி மரத்தால் செய்த பொருள்களை யாகத்தில் பயன்படுத்தியவர்கள் தமிழர்கள் ! ‘அத்தி ’ என்பது கண்ணைக் குறிக்கும் ! ‘அத்திகோபம்’ என்பது கண் நோய்; அத்திக்காய் , கண் விழி உருண்டை போல இருப்பதால் இம் மரம் , அத்தி எனப்பட்டது ! சங்ககாலத்தில் இந்த மரத்தின் பெயர் அதவம்( குறுந்தொகை 24). அத்தி வேரிலிருந்து தயாரிக்கப்படும் கள் ‘அத்திவேர்க் கள்’எனப்பட்டது; அத்திப் பழம் சர்க்கரை நோய்க்கும் ஈரல் அடைப்பை நீக்கவும் மருந்து; அத்தி இலைப் பொடி பித்தத்திற்கும் ,மரப்பால் மூலத்திற்கும் சித்த மருத்துவர்களால் கொடுக்கப்படுகிறது ;ஊறவைத்த மரப்பட்டை மூட்டுவலி மருந்து. படம் - அத்தி மரத்தின் இளம் கன்று ! |
