Description
中文（繁體）：五溝水劉氏宗祠開基祖是廣東省劉姓族人，於清乾隆年間組成祭祀公業來到五溝水開墾，再由後代子孫於1864年，另有一說是1869年開始陸續興建「二堂四橫圍屋式」的客家合院建築，由於歷經時代動亂，前後歷時45年，到日治時期明治41年才建成，日治大正10年間因農村經濟景氣曾進行重修。劉氏宗祠最初建好時，只有左右兩橫屋，後來重修時，又加上左右的「然藜閣」與「重光樓」兩門樓，以及外橫屋和花園的巴洛克裝飾圍牆與涼亭，因此兩座門樓與橫屋，無論材料、構造、尺寸與美學，意匠上都與原先不同，甚至其右外橫屋還建成當時最時髦的大正樣式洋樓，可以看出當時劉家的財力與在村中的權勢。在格局的安排上，也可看出客家先民為適應自然環境對風水形勢的講究。
