gender error

[edit]

In the images where the variant known as a helice appears, it is indicated that it is a male when it is an error. It is a variant exclusively for females as stated in this link https://navalmanzano.blogspot.com/2009/06/colias-crocea-f-helice-colias-comun.html.

This is the text of the description of this form in the English Wikipedia article "in about 5% of females, the golden upperside coloration is replaced by a pale cream colour. These females have been distinguished as form helice. The pale form helice does not seem to be distinct, as intermediates exist, and the variation is to some extent related to humidity during development, with dryer conditions producing paler colouration. These pale helice forms can be confused with Berger's clouded yellow (Colias alfacariensis) and the rarer pale clouded yellow (Colias hyale).[9] Even the palest C. croceus tends to have more black on the upperside, however, in particular on the hindwings". 188.78.178.213 20:17, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
